Blackford farms are situated in the majestic heart of the Perthshire countryside, central Scotland. With the Ochils above us and the rugged Grampians to the north, there is an abundance of water in and around the area, which has had a strong influence on the development and on agriculture.
The estate spreads over 20,000 acres of rich fertile land on which we breed our cattle, and grow crops. We grow wheat, barley and oats on the estate, so we know exactly what our cattle’s diet consists of. Healthy strong cattle must have equally healthy pasture in which to develop and reach maturity.
Blackford farms is the home of Highland Wagyu which encompasses a total farming operation from the breeding and rearing of pedigree Aberdeen Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Highland Cattle, Dexters and our 100% Fullblood Wagyu cattle.
We have some of the best breeding lines and have recently acquired some new stock bulls to increase those lines and improve our herds. Some of the lines we have are Idvies, Cardona, Fordel, Linburn and Netherton on our Angus side and on the Shorthorn side we have Chapleton, Glenisla and Rothes, we also have some great lines coming from our Highland Cattle such as Dunvegan, Boquhapple, Corriemuckloch and Rannoch just to name a few.
Our cattle are in the high health scheme SAC. Were BVD accredited and TB passed.
We have a great team working with us ,with many years of experience in lots of different areas.
